Vapor DegreasingVapor degreasing is one of Williams Metalfinishing's biggest assets. This process allows us to clean parts before, or in most cases, after polishing operations. This cleaning process provides our customers with parts that are free of buffing compounds and grease. Our fully-automated vapor-spray degreasing system exceeds all federal and state regulations. This automated vapor degreasing system is programmable to ensure every surface of our customers' parts is free of buffing compounds and grease. How Vapor Degreasing Works Vapor degreasing is a relatively simple process. In a way, vapor degreasing can be thought of as steam cleaning your parts with a solvent. The vapor degreasing process starts when a liquid solvent is heated to its boiling point (we use Trichloroethylene). This produces hot, heavy solvent vapors that condense on the part's surface. The liquid solvent produced as a result of this condensation dissolves the greases and oils on the part and flushes them away. Note: Trichloroethylene Vapor Degreaser PA Dept. of Environmental Resources (DER) Permit granted October 1993.
